“Lessons in Love” Is Ready for Release

Lessons in Love is ready for release, a choral tale set in the Cilento region of the 1960s that celebrates the courage of authentic feelings and simple souls.

The film follows a young schoolteacher transferred from Salerno to his first post in a remote village in Cilento. There, he discovers an archaic world shaped by ancient rites and rural traditions and falls in love with Margherita, a young woman who embodies a natural, spontaneous poetry, capable of transforming bookish knowledge into living experience through her deep connection with nature.

The landscape — mountains, pastures, and stone houses — becomes a silent protagonist and a poetic metaphor for profound, timeless emotions. Central themes include the dialogue between childhood and old age, the conflict between truth and deception, and the motif of the double, often treated with a touch of irony.

Blending literary Italian with the Cilento dialect, and elegy with comedy, the film unfolds as an epiphanic parable that weaves together memory, love, and identity into a story of universal resonance.
